The Textile Ministry has launched a new integrated skill development scheme for the Textiles & Apparel Sector, including Jute & Handicrafts. To be operational from 2nd October 2010, the scheme envisages an investment of Rs. 272 crore and a physical target of training 2.56 lakh persons in two years. Though the details have yet to be finalized, IL&FS has been identified as the nodal agency for implementation of the scheme.
